@TheDac_Official The thing is, the UST were "backed" by the Luna ecosystem implicitly. Obviously if UST totalSupply was $100 - it'd be working perfectly. However, the UST size outgrew the real (not on-paper "market cap") value of Luna, so it couldn't hold it from implosion.
