@LawZag @cjdcat @JustinLawGuy @RyanRadia @breathtkinan @NateSilver538 It might be close for all meals PURCHASED from a restaurant including take out (take out of course doesn't support his point about covid exposure). Average is 2-3 fast food meals per week (mostly take out), so add some full service and it's reasonably close.
@LawZag@cjdcat@JustinLawGuy@RyanRadia@Breattkinan@NateSilver538
@JustinLawGuy @RyanRadia @breathtkinan @NateSilver538 I wasn't suggesting this. 5x/week was intended to cover the 50% who allegedly do go out. Of course that would be 2.5x for everyone. I thought this was obvious.
@JustinLawGuy@RyanRadia@Breattkinan@NateSilver538
@RyanRadia @JustinLawGuy @breathtkinan @NateSilver538 Yes, I wasn't agreeing with nate, I was responding to the discussion in this subthread, about polling saying the only half go out. Yes, 2.3 would be an overall number.
But $20 might be wrong. If the average is lower (say Starbucks/McDs, etc.) at $10, Nate would be closer.
@ASlavitt Doesn't seem right that it was "extremely unpopular" with flight attendants. I have no doubt there were some outspoken opponents but unlikely a union would advocate for something extremely unpopular w/members.

@RyanRadia @JustinLawGuy @breathtkinan @NateSilver538 US restaurant sales are about $800 billion. That's about $2400 per person. Some is take out. Average cost per meal, I don't know, must be kind of low given all the fast food. Let's say $20. If half don't go out at all, that would be 5x per week. Your estimate is plausible too.
@RyanRadia@JustinLawGuy@Breattkinan@NateSilver538
@Edward_Morling @AndreTI @TheWisestHuman @NateSilver538 It's not just the plane, it is shuttle busses, rest rooms, various waiting areas, queues, and crowding. All of these involve exposure (often close contact exposure) with a new set of people. Travel has many opportunities for spread apart from ON THE PLANE.
@Edward_Morling@AndreTI@TheWisestHuman@NateSilver538
@chud_meridian @TheWisestHuman @NateSilver538 How fast they spread matters. It buys time to do lab studies, understand clinical differences, time to distribute boosters if useful (or potentially updated ones if needed), etc.
@JustinLawGuy @RyanRadia @breathtkinan @NateSilver538 Half eat at a restaurant at all, but what is the average number of times that half does?
I don't think this is a uniform going out once every week or two at all.
@JustinLawGuy@RyanRadia@Breattkinan@NateSilver538
@daveshow6 @jsparklin27 @JeromeAdamsMD @Kbrady04 If you were in Korea buying them, then sure. But in the US you are at the mercy of dodgy importers and resellers. Several counterfeits and underperforming products have identified (and there are certainly others not identified) but less commonly than KN95s.
