@jsparklin27 @JeromeAdamsMD @Kbrady04 Here we are two years later, the US could have created a regulatory process for high filtration public-use masks by now, including for kids. But it did not.
@jsparklin27 @JeromeAdamsMD @Kbrady04 Those are KN95 and KF94 masks, neither of which are subject to any regulatory standards in the US and are often counterfeit or otherwise fail when people test them. Also, ear loops don't result in a reliable seal, particularly when moving around.
@JimNivison @Far_fromNormal1 @NateSilver538 Nobody has any idea who (of the potentially thousands or more) got covid as a result of the gridiron dinner, so there is no way to even know this much less report it. I don't think there are any reports from the several dozen high profile guests, mostly as expected.
@JimNivison @Far_fromNormal1 @NateSilver538 It's impossible to know really, since the extent of spread is poorly documented and surely goes beyond the people there (and no reporting, as far as I know, of the staff present as opposed to the guests). Multiple carefully traced outbreaks in Korea extended to thousands.
@JimNivison@Far_from normal@natesilve538
@Kbrady04 @vvalkyri @JeromeAdamsMD Also, it is often impossible even for adults to wear a mask without taking it off. During extended travel people, particularly more vulnerable people, need to hydrate, eat, take medicine, etc. With kids it is worse.
@Kbrady04@vvalkyri@JeromeAdamsMD
@Kbrady04 @vvalkyri @JeromeAdamsMD It doesn't stop the person from wearing a mask, but it makes them much less safe even if they do wear a mask, particularly when mask options for kids are highly limited (there are NO masks in the US for kids that are regulated for effectiveness).
@Kbrady04@vvalkyri@JeromeAdamsMD
