@LazarusLong13 @JHowardBrainMD It's not tough at all if you are an honest scientist at all. Be extremely skeptical (even scared) of anyone who shows difficulty.

@mgubrud @MichaelGemar @Dr_M_Davis It doesn't say anything about feasibility of space based solar but it does say that in-space labor being a high fraction of the cost is extremely unlikely. As you say, space-based hardware would likely be more expensive and therefore labor costs relatively LOWER.

@MichaelGemar @Dr_M_Davis @mgubrud Considering solar energy as mentioned in this thread, equipment costs are the largest portion by far (and space-based would certainly be designed for even lower in-place labor costs). Different for different types of projects, of course.

@MichaelGemar@Dr\u M\u Davis@mgubrud

@j109203 @EnemyInAState The article assumes infected once per year, the tweet (and other estimates) said twice per year, so ^6 not ^3. 10% and 5% are low estimates, per some studies that are more recent than this thread. CDC now says potentially 20%

@MothraStewart3 @5dconsciousness @DrTomFrieden Nobody claimed vaccines don't work. But it's a question of degree. Post-vaccine, not all cases are mild (in fact, increasingly, many vaccinated people die), and even in 2020 with no vaccines whatsoever, many cases were mild (or even asymptomatic).

@ReedRothchild12 @Handsof04879436 @DrTomFrieden Certainly not. Do you know what, for example, "acute myocardial infarction" means?

@MothraStewart3 @5dconsciousness @DrTomFrieden I doubt you can find one in twelve celebrities who talk about having a rough time after being vaxed. It's all carefully scripted: thankful for being vaxed, mild symptoms, sometimes taking paxlovid (often with lack of clarity as to why, other than being rich with access to candy).

这一切都是经过精心编写的:感谢被人抽迷糊,症状轻微,有时服用paxlovid(通常不清楚原因,除了能吃到糖果之外)。

@mgubrud @Dr_M_Davis @MichaelGemar I'm sure it's awful but the trend over time is a huge improvement.

@SixandLaura@denise\u dewald@Theresa\u Chapple@StephTaitWrites

@SixandLaura @denise_dewald @Theresa_Chapple @StephTaitWrites I'm pretty sure that many health outcomes in the US are very unequal. For the most privileged they're not much worse than the rest of the developed world, for the less privileged they are. That points toward safety net policies and general inequity.

@SixandLaura@denise\u dewald@Theresa\u Chapple@StephTaitWrites

@AbundantLandUse @FreitasABR During part of the pandemic period, I have lived in a city/apartment. I had a big air cleaner by the front door and more throughout the unit. Not clear whether that made any difference, but never did get covid.

@AbundantLandUse@FreitasABR

@AbundantLandUse @FreitasABR If you're only relying on protection when you go out, you're potentially more exposed in your own apartment. It may be less likely than direct close contact, but it will happen.

@AbundantLandUse @FreitasABR What makes you think air wouldn't come into a unit from hallways in 2001? The only way that wouldn't happen would be deliberate positive pressure in each unit which I doubt exists just about anywhere in the world. Usually it's the opposite.
