@pourteaux I think there is an actual failure to connect these two dots going on.

@pourteaux From a US perspective, some orthodoxies seem stifling, and breaking out of liberalism to ask "what if the dictator is good?" feels liberating. But this ignores that from the perspective inside the dictatorial countries, it is the dictator's orthodoxy that's the stifling one.

@apolynya Maybe this is yet another pressure for all rollups to stick with strict EVM 😛

3. One important issue is that "crypto" means different things to different people.
To me, the core of "crypto" is the tech and mechanisms. ZK-SNARKs, BLS, auction models, x*y=k, quadratic funding... shape rotating all the way
Pairings literally use 12-dimensional curve twists! https://t.co/t89S1BzhXf

deep learning vs crypto is a clear divide of rotators vs wordcels. the former offends theorycel aesthetic sensibilities but empirically works to produce absurd miracles. the latter is an insane series of nerd traps and sky high abstraction ladders yet mostly scams

@Aella_Girl This one was up there for me!

@DeepCipher @shl @elonmusk Disparities in economic success between men and women are far larger once marriage+children enter the picture. Synthetic wombs would remove the high burden of pregnancy, significantly reducing the inequality.

@RalphEmmers @MazMHussain @FelledMan @lndian_Bronson Right but the Russian civilization meme has basically zero appeal to Ukraine now, and even before the war a majority wanted to be closer to the EU.
Maybe civilizationism is inherently appealing to centers but not to peripheries.

@RalphEmmers @MazMHussain @FelledMan @lndian_Bronson

@MazMHussain @FelledMan @lndian_Bronson One of the big flaws with it is lack of any game theory intuition. Voluntarily joining a tight coalition where another nearby country has 80% of the power is very dangerous - hence why periphery countries of other cultural spheres often huddle up to the US.

@MazMHussain @FelledMan @lndian_Bronson

@6ix_smith @Noahpinion That's not a hack though, that's an attempted frontal assault on the underlying problem (rules that are actually really harmful, but have narratives about how they protect people that sound good)
But given how fast NIMBYism is falling, maybe it could be done!

@MazMHussain @lndian_Bronson He was right about the presence of conflict, but very wrong on the details (eg. quite ironically the first section strongly asserts that a Ukraine vs Russia war is unlikely)

@MazMHussain Started reading Clash of Civilizations recently. 1/6 in, and so far it's feeling like the End of History (the book, not the meme) has aged much better
