@danrobinson Why not hybrid proof of stake, of the 2013-15 era designs where you have interwoven PoW and PoS blocks, so an attacker needs something like `work_share + stake_share >= 1` to do a 51% attack?
Still politically sellable as PoW, but may get you enough of the security gains.

@zengjiajun_eth I also had a T shirt that I bought for 8.5 BTC in 2011. Unfortunately I lost it when I lost my entire bag (fortunately not my laptop+passport bag) on a train in London a few years later :(

@ne0liberal Could be a dark road imo; really don't want to legitimize internet balkanization any further.

@Theo_Clifford Stories are very important culture setters.
Remember my tweet about synthetic wombs a while back, where 3/4 of the opposition was just screenshotting The Matrix or repeating Brave New World memes?
That's cultural power. Our civilization desperately needs better stories imo.

As a frontier social movement, we're supposed to be trying to execute on visions like this, not just repeating unimaginative 20th century crap except with ourselves at the top.

@OptiPunk deserves praise imo. Cryptopunk NFTs, but with revenue going to supporting public goods. We should make a directory of other projects that are like this, so we can do more to support them!

IMO all donors to the gitcoin matching pool deserve to get big beautiful statues in the metaverse honoring their contributions.

I want to make our world more like the Yudkowskian dath ilan utopia where instead of rich people's desire for wealth signaling going into wasteful zero sum crap, it goes into supporting public goods.

There are far more honorable ways to burn $50m to impress people than buying a superyacht.
Like becoming a @gitcoin grants matching partner! Here are the matching partners for the current round: https://t.co/GgzJh9pxLV

@jon_choi_ @sama (Nothing against New York, it's quite a fine city; I just think the place has enough love from many industries already, and if defi goes elsewhere many NY residents may well be happy to get some relief from high prices and congestion)

@jon_choi_ @sama I have been hoping that the crypto space could use its awesome coordination powers to try to coordinate on creating hubs in places that are actually affordable.
Alas, so far defi people decided to make the hub... New York 🤬

@MosheModeira To be clear it's fake news, it just sounds really nice and convincing. Decadent comes from de + cadere ("falling down")

@Noahpinion Mine is "the etymology of 'decadent' is that in that late Roman empire they invented concentrated sugar candies, and these were only available to wealthy nobles, so one would frequently see wealthy people walking around with ten teeth ('deca dent') left"

@robertwiblin Big parks are good for long walks/runs/bikes.
I think if I built a city I would make a connected network of linear parks covering the whole city (plus some big ones), and enforce a rule that every single point in the city must be within 500m of the network.

@AranetIoT Btw do you happen to have a PM2.5 sensor (or ideally a combo) in that same form factor?
Could be good to tell whether or not a given place has HEPA filtering, in addition to better understanding pollution levels and the like in general.
