@VanGennepD @JimRosenthal4 I suspect you are right, but there is an obvious tradeoff here. The MERV8 isn't filtering small particles so I would imagine it has to be doing SOMETHING to catch e.g. dust better than a thin piece of foam or such. I have no idea what level of filtration+impedance best, if any.
