@wsbgnl @AliHMokdad @DrEricDing Probably timing? With most of the surge allegedly in the past, and a rapid decline allegedly baked in, most deaths happen among people already infected or infected very soon, and vaccinations take additional time.
Of course, some or all of this may not happen as predicted.
