@CulturaDeMessi @BerkeleyJr @aetiology It just "justifying" and it isn't BS. That's how incident response ALWAYS works. If you had the convenience of taking time to do things in the most ideal way rather than choosing least bad options and recognizing cost of not acting urgently, you wouldn't be managing an incident.

@CulturaDeMessi @BerkeleyJr @aetiology There are no long term trials of a virus that has been around two years. During crisis response you make an evenhanded assessment of benefits and risks, including uncertainties. Not the same as considering a new treatment for long extant and well-understood disease.

@Loretta_Torrago Fifth act is just "downgrading"
Meanwhile, today, there are tweets from her (including replies) nearly ever hour.
At some point, with repeated intent to stop and continued compulsive behavior, she just needs help. https://t.co/9vozi73v6C

@greg_travis @NowStasties_ Over 6000 cases of MIS-C which is very serious even if the child survives. Most hospitalized and often ICU. Most have no significant comorbidities and of the ones who do, the most common are asthma and obesity.

@CFagan1987 @JStein_WaPo A small number of boosters have gone to 16-17 so % of adults is actually a bit below that but probably not significant.

@CFagan1987 @JStein_WaPo You're right, I eyeballed the numbers and was a bit low.
Bloomberg reports 68 million boosted, adult population 209 million = 32%

@JStein_WaPo Please fact check this. About 25% of adults are boosted.

@NowStasties_ @greg_travis Kids with comorbidities are still kids. People with ideal health rarely die from anything but sadly this is not universal. In kids, the most common "comorbidity" is obesity, shockingly common but not otherwise a death sentence for decades if ever.

@Nutmeg031992 @scubacuda999 @ShikhaJainMD @tmprowell There are various reports (including Taiwan as in the other reply below) but CDC itself says that after 5 days 30% will still be contagious so I used that number.

@POTUS "We"?
You have everyone around you wearing N95 masks.
Other workers don't.

@NowStasties_ @greg_travis That number is out of date. A lot more kids have died since. Mostly kids weren't getting covid due to schools being remote/hybrid, more caution by adults, and less transmissible less vaccine-evading variants. Now they are getting it and facing a much larger impact.

@scubacuda999 @ShikhaJainMD @tmprowell There is every reason to believe it backfires. 30% are still contagious after five days. HCW don't generally use good PPE. Sending contagious HCW back to work = more HCW out sick.

@justthefacts85 In-N-Out was in the news for refusing to enforce the vaccine mandate, so they closed dining rooms instead. Apparently with even just take-away, they still don't have good covid safety. Right wing covid enablers going to enable, I guess.

@skylarker03 @DataDrivenMD The simple answer is abandon "let it rip".
"Let it rip" has many negative consequences and needing to choose between inexperienced bus drivers and no bus drivers (both bad for kids) is one of them.
This isn't directed at Florida really, Biden is equally backing let it rip.
