@MedHatDentist @WesPegden @walidgellad Difference is over a season vs at one time. Season is say 100 days, course of infection is 10 days (made up numbers for easy estimation) = 4% at one time.
@Medhatdent@WesPegden@walidgellad
@TKevin6710 @Incindery1 @DrLeanaWen In England where they are actually able to collect data, 2/3 to 3/4 of hospitalized covid patients are there primarily for covid and in some of the other cases it is a contributing factor.
@Finnegenegen @ashishkjha @DLeonhardt Here's another one that is similar, doors opened briefly, transmission from one room to another.

@Finnegenegen@ashishkjha@DLeonhardt

@Finnegenegen @ashishkjha @DLeonhardt You can find the original report easily, regardless of who posted it to twitter. I believe some of them (maybe not the outdoor cafe, probably indoor fleeting contact) was sequenced and confirmed, and seen on video just walking by each other (not coughing).
@Finnegenegen@ashishkjha@DLeonhardt
@ashishkjha @doritmi Considering that isolation is to protect OTHERS, how do we ensure that people do wear that high quality mask in order to protect others in workplaces and essential services?
Or we just suggest it, wash our hands of any further responsibility for public safety, and call it a day?
@Finnegenegen @ashishkjha @DLeonhardt A lot of transmissions in unstructured settings are hard to document. That was before genomic sequencing was available or used to establish specific transmission links (even now, uncommon), and the original virus in 2020 was less transmissible too.
@Finnegenegen@ashishkjha@DLeonhardt

6) Cmon, must be have a one time random event. Right? Wrong! ➡️ “It is the second “fleeting contact” transmission connected to the first case. A woman in her 70s was sitting outside a cafe that the initial case had visited and genomic sequencing of her virus is an exact match” ⚠️ https://t.co/p89garvEbH

⚠️ https://t.co/p89garvEbH
@Finnegenegen @ashishkjha @DLeonhardt A virus doesn't have a timer, and 30% of the people mentioned were just other customers at the restaurant. Fleeting transmission in a few seconds, even outdoors, has been documented. Sitting in a restaurant for enough time for a meal is plenty.
@Finnegen@ashishkjha@DLeonhardt

@Finnegenegen @ashishkjha @DLeonhardt There are countless case reports of these suprespreader events. I'm not going to do your research for you, assuming you are actually interested.
Hospitalizations and deaths don't depend on where someone is infected, or where the person who infected them was.
@Finnegenegen@ashishkjha@DLeonhardt
