@rockytfs @JuliaRaifman @j_g_allen It also reduces high disruption due to illness and absence, even if not severe. This was the main thing that closed or disrupted (e.g. kids warehoused in auditorium because low staffing, who is learning?) schools during the recent surge.
@rockytfs @JuliaRaifman @j_g_allen CDC data says exactly that spread in school is low with mitigations, not without. Reducing spread in dense congregate settings doesn't only protect teachers, it protects healthy kids (lower risk not zero), vulnerable kids, parents, grandparents, caregivers, and communities.
@imdesigntank @DanPriceSeattle Griping about CEO pay is appeal to outrage and performative nonsense. It has zero to do with price increases or worker pay. Docking CEO to zero (unrealistic) and giving it all to workers would be about $0.50/hour.
@rockytfs @JuliaRaifman @j_g_allen Every parent who has ever had a kid or everyone who has ever been a kid has known since forever that germs spread like wildfire in a school. The only time that changed was when politics called for schools to be "low risk". They perhaps can be w/adequate mitigations, not without.
@DavidElfstrom @Loretta_Torrago @LazarusLong13 @JimRosenthal4 @HuffmanLabDU @CorsIAQ @kprather88 Seems preferable in fact since you don't need to lift it up off the floor for air flow.
@DavidElfstrom@Loretta_Torrago@LazarusLong13@JimRosenthal4@HuffmanLabDU@CorsIAQ@kprather88
@JuliaRaifman @j_g_allen He's being disingenuous. The different rules are entirely based on setting and exposure not age. If you're an adult visiting a high risk congregate setting like a school, prison, homeless shelter, etc. you still have to mask up. If you're a kid in a lower risk place, you don't
@killlerbae @BarbLarochelle @RonChrist1954 Offer curbside pickup. Covid-conscious take out customers don't want to go into a restaurants filled with covid spreaders to pick up their order. One of my local restaurants stopped offering it due to "staffing", so I stopped getting takeout. I spent a lot there when they had it.
@Killerbae@BarbLarochelle@Roncrist1954
@justthefacts85 @wsbgnl I doubt they necessarily expect everything to be quiet for the full 10 months but enough to talk about something else. It still may backfire spectacularly, that is true, but when you are WAY behind it often makes sense to go for the hail mary.
