@JeromeAdamsMD There are examples of this in replies (and you replied to them) but they are a tiny fraction of the influence that CDC has.
To this day people (maybe MOST) poorly informed about risk because of poor CDC info on deep cleaning, plexiglass, 6ft/15m, etc.
First, give good info.

@JeromeAdamsMD That's not reality. People do follow it. Not all people and not 100% compliance but it's also far from zero.
Also, as with anyone, CDC can't be 'forced' to do something that it can't do. All it is accomplishing by trying is credibility self-immolation.

@Mikeska @JeromeAdamsMD 1. CDC just advises and informs, it doesn't make decisions on optional vs. non-optional. Should give sound health and epidemiological advice and others sort out the politics.
2. "Endgame" = unknown because the future is. Offramp:
https://twitter.com/AeonCoin/s...

@Alexmenter @VincentRK A rational "offramp" to pre-pandemic baseline behavior is morbidity and mortality at pre-pandemic baseline levels. That's not even true for healthy vaccinated people at this point, much less those more vulnerable.

@Mikeska@JeromeAdamsMD 1。CDC
https://twitter.com/AeonCoin/s...

@Alexmenter@VincentRK

@JeromeAdamsMD Municipalities aren't the only consumers of CDC guidance. But, more fundamentally, CDC is poorly equipped and not empowered to lead a coordinated response and shouldn't try. It should be giving accurate information about how to prevent and control disease.

@TheSkylineTrail @wsbgnl I'm not saying it's obvious what to do, I'm saying it is obvious that leaders got together and decided to do less to nothing.
That was even explicitly reported, when Biden met with governors a month or so ago.

@TheSkylineTrail@wsbgnl

@NancyK07312478 @JeromeAdamsMD @drsajumathew Also possible to give graduated advice i.e. this is best, but if you're not going to do that, do this instead, or this, or this.
First, be honest about what keeps people healthy and safe. Then consider offering second best alternatives.

@NancyK07312478 @JeromeAdamsMD @drsajumathew Should be giving the best sensible health and epidemiological advice and encouraging people to follow, but if they don't they don't. It's the only way to retain credibility, lest every statement later will be second guessed as political or underhanded.

@NancyK07312478@JeromeAdamsMD@drsajumathew

@NancyK07312478 @JeromeAdamsMD @drsajumathew The problem FOR THE FUTURE, is that the CDC giving nonsensical guidance for political/maniputative purposes only undermines its own credibility later. See "don't wear masks", etc.

@NancyK07312478@JeromeAdamsMD@drsajumathew

@Loretta_Torrago @SixandLaura @LolaMotz @boggleknits @BernieDogs4 @nohomelikeplace @wsbgnl I don't know about the whole theory but #4 is certainly plausible. May have been less transmissible and/or less severe, resulting in only small, low-impact and often self-limiting outbreaks that wouldn't necessarily be noticed.

@Loretta_Torrago@SixandLaura@LolaMotz@boggleknits@BernieDogs4@nohomelikeplace@wsbgnl

@NancyK07312478 @JeromeAdamsMD @drsajumathew Now we're well into ideal (unified response) vs. actual. Ideal would be great but is rarely achievable in any setting.
Also, not top concern doesn't mean not a concern. It's easy to try to approach it as extremes but usually not that. Vast majority still express some concern.

@NancyK07312478@JeromeAdamsMD@drsajumathew
