@OmicronData @MichaelSFuhrer @colourmeamused_ @PeacockFlu 3% is too high to be considered meaningful retrospectively (as your second sentence suggests). If it had been every switching every two variants, and possibly other patterns, we'd start to wonder about that too.
Still, it *may* be significant.
@OmicronData@MichaelSFuhrer@colormemamused\uuu@piockoflu 3%
@kabulykos @spooknine @Noahpinion In this thread, what was claimed was the similar "recalls are dumb". I don't agree with that.
But vote against the Chesa recall by all means if you're against it (and live in SF), that's perfectly fine.
@Nutmeg031992 @andyaschmidt @EricTopol @PNASNews @g_leech_ The study does account for changes in mobility and NPIs which likely accounts for a large portion of the behavior changes both directly and indirectly. Usage of masks itself remains as a significant predictive variable.
@kabulykos @spooknine @Noahpinion And no, recalls aren't "routinely abused". There are thousands of elected officials in California alone, and most never face a recall even over a long career.
@spooknine @Noahpinion There is probably not a single private sector or NGO job where if you do a shitty job, you're not out on your ass. Even with an employment contract, it'll get paid out in order to bring in better leadership. Same is good government, whether YOU call it dumb or not.
