@loscharlos @LongCovidNYC @CDCgov One example, San Francisco (bottom graph shown). Official cases are approximately 1/4 of where they were in January, but wastewater shows actual infections are even higher!

SARSCoV2 infections in San Francisco are now at all-time highs. Yes, higher than before vax, before widespread infections of the unvaccinated.
This spring wave is all BA.2, whereas winter wave was BA.1. BA.4 is low but could create another wave. https://t.co/WdHSKr4L3U

https://t.co/WdHSKr4L3U

@LongCovidNYC @loscharlos @CDCgov Nationally (sort of, coverage isn't that great) wastewater, in dark blue, is up 8x, while reported cases, in light blue, only up 5x.
In local areas with more intense surges, the disparity is probably higher.

@loscharlos @LongCovidNYC @CDCgov There is probably at least half a million, probably more, in reality. Wastewater shows very few of the infections are being reported as "official" cases.

@Blessed395 @selinawangtv @CNN If you test everybody all the time and isolate the cases, it doesn't spread, people don't get hospitalized and the don't die.
Is that worth it? I don't know, but the two aren't unrelated.

@selinawangtv @CNN Covid isn't going to be gone any time soon, so this seems not that relevant a concern in practice.

If you sneeze or cough once (e.g. to clear food), it may not be a disease. Allergies, for example, are a chronic disease. Not all diseases are severe or life threatening.

@yoshkapundrick @EverlastDD @LazarusLong13 @LawrenceGostin @ResearcherGrace @CDCgov Testing was done everyday under Trump. The issue is capacity and whether people can get access when they need it without long lines and big backlogs during surges that make the tests useless. They can't under Biden or Trump.

@yoshkapundrick @EverlastDD @LazarusLong13 @LawrenceGostin @ResearcherGrace @CDCgov This is EXACTLY the same as Trump, minus the "slow the testing down" rhetoric. Under Trump there was ample testing during low points, not during surges. Biden, exact same.
