@NoahProoval @policytensor @mattyglesias So if NBER says it is or isn't a recession, but Fed sees data it thinks shows something else in terms of employment and price stability, the Fed is going to just go with the label NBER puts on it? No it isn't.
There may be some official policies keyed to NBER, but Fed isn't one.

@NoahProoval @policytensor @mattyglesias Monetary policy is not really downstream of what label someone puts on it. The Fed has their own analysis and isn't sitting there waiting.

@NoahProoval@policytensor@mattyglesias

@BernieDogs4 If you have half face make sure you also have eye protection (e.g. airtight goggles). While eye entry by SARS-CoV-2 is suspected and an open question, with other threats it might be even more important.

@NoahProoval @policytensor @mattyglesias There is no way defining a recession could be a "spectacular failure" no matter how you did it. It's just an arbitrary label.

@NoahProoval@policytensor@mattyglesias

@JeromeAdamsMD I'm not sure home tests are actually fit for purpose of treatment given high early symptom false negatives and treatment that is supposed to start within 5 days of symptoms.

@happyhexer @JeromeAdamsMD @GilleyBraggcjoy There has also never been clear advice for other family members, particularly post-vax. Yes, try to avoid infection within the home, but still reasonably high risk (including already infected by the time first case is known). Need clear advice to avoid spreading outside home.

@BlakeMMurdoch Mathematically somewhat true. It depends if the contribution to cumulative damage declines rapidly enough. If it declines very rapidly, cumulative damage will never increase much in total. If it declines slowly, it will.

@rotowonderworld @BryantonPaul @jackhidary @PeterDiamandis Supply isn't steady, and demand doesn't only come from homes. Overall it seems quite complex.

@BryantonPaul @jackhidary @PeterDiamandis He just said how. By using off peak rates. You'll routinely obtain energy when it is cheap and plentiful, which may not happen to be when you need to use it. If this prediction comes to pass (no comment).

@BryantonPaul@jackhidary@PeterDiamandis

@maskupmelb You've been lucky, I've had vflex break. It's the same crappy rubber as Aura I think, and there isn't a model of vflex with elastic. Someone suggested to staple your own better straps.

@maskupmelb Even if not reusing, carry a spare. I've had a strap break the first time I tried to put it on. The ones with the elastic straps are much better than the rubber straps, also tighter in the case of Aura, but some of the others seem to be the opposite.

@antizeroalt @MikeBromley15 @thumbhatguy @NKinNewEng @macroliter TB outbreaks have happened throughout history, this wasn't short term. Likewise adaptions to other infectious diseases until modern public health, vaccines, and antibiotics reduced them, although PH still important (vax programs, surveillance, clean water, food safety, etc.)

@antizeroalt @MikeBromley15 @thumbhatguy @NKinNewEng @macroliter Here's another one. Picture NOT from 1918, this was about the persistent threat of TB not pandemic flu. If you don't think building schools with huge windows and expect them to be open even in cold weather is adaptation, I don't know what to tell you.
