@VirginiaBuysse @mskathleenquinn Even setting aside transmission, 20k courses per day is a pittance when there are several hundred thousand cases per day and most qualify as "high risk". It's not getting to the people who need it.
@VirginiaBuysse@mskathleenquinn

@FinchTH "Human-to-human transmission is thought to occur primarily through large respiratory droplets, which generally cannot travel more than a few feet"
LOL

@joaquinlife One. Without reinfection you could arguably see it as everybody going to get infected so get it over with. But with reinfection, rate of transmission and frequency of reinfections matters greatly.
@mMekota @vgr I meant disparity between US (2x) and rest of world (about 10x, after accounting for undercount). US was certainly richer than many but wasn't even the predominant superpower at that time, and even "advanced" medical care in 1918 had little to offer.
@catladyactivist @dianemann0613 I remember this one from early in the pandemic. It was attributed to job stress, but who knows.

@celinegounder Nobody is "losing sight of the endgame". They all know that vaccines are quite protective against hospitalization and death. They are pointing out that even "mild" frequent infections have high individual, family, school, workplace, and societal impact.

For those of us lucky enough to be relatively healthy, I think "you're gonna get Covid once a year, but it won't put you in the hospital" is a tolerable equilibrium, but "you and your family are gonna get it 2-3 times a year" isn't really... https://twitter.com/rhjameson/...

。。https://twitter.com/rhjameson/...
@OmicronData @ENirenberg @jbakcoleman @notdred The 50% in six months = 1 per year model assumes that the people infected in the next six months will be the other 50%. But if the same people have high exposure constantly, it may be that same 50% getting infected again. (Of course, not entirely.)
@OmicronData@ENirenberg@jbakcoleman@notdred
