@Justinredalen @bsbdunn @RadioFreeTom @mehdirhasan The debate upthread was $10K or $50K, or potentially phasing out relief at $125K income. Try again.

@Justinredalen@bsbdunn@RadioFreeTom@mehdirhasan

@ZonaWC03 @RadioFreeTom @mehdirhasan You could try accomplishing things that people care about, such as student loan forgiveness. Do nothing but cry about propaganda = lose.
Enthusiasm gap is ENORMOUS and that's not due to Fox news because dems don't watch it.

@ZonaWC03@RadioFreeTom@mehdirhasan

@OXHarryH1 @alexmeshkin The governors mostly take their cue from the national leadership. That was true under both 45 and 46. You can probably come up with a few who deviated slightly to the better in both cases, but not all that much.

@OXHarryH1 @alexmeshkin You can list a series of clear mistakes that started LONG before the mood of the country was (fairly marginally BTW) "be over". You don't dig a deep hole instantly, it takes many shovelfuls.

@RadioFreeTom @mehdirhasan Mostly they're just going to stay home, same as any other discouraged voter. If you were a corn farmer in Iowa, promised farm subsides if you voted in your candidate, only to see them cut, you'd probably stay home too.

@RadioFreeTom@mehdirhasan

@OXHarryH1 @alexmeshkin He's losing badly. There's not really an alternative politically that is worse. He's gotten bad advice on that too! Or gotten advice that wasn't so bad but implemented it poorly. Hard to tell the difference as an observer.

@RadioFreeTom @mehdirhasan Getting the policy decisions that you were supporting when you voted in the candidate, and that you supported and continue to support and makes you enthusiastic about leaders who make life better for voters is not even remotely a "payoff".

@RadioFreeTom@mehdirhasan

@RadioFreeTom @mehdirhasan Sure, let's just eliminate every single policy that provides benefits to people because that can be framed as "paying for votes".

@RadioFreeTom@mehdirhasan

@OXHarryH1 @alexmeshkin No subjective! Badly underwater in every poll (i.e. far more than polling error). People aren't happy with the leadership at all. Covid isn't the only issue, but it's one of them.

@OXHarryH1 @alexmeshkin It's no different than any other policy specialty. Does he or most any politician understand the economy, or military strategy, etc.? Generally no. Their job is to solicit enough different views, listen, and make the right calls.

@OXHarryH1 @alexmeshkin No perhaps. Buck always stops with the boss. He may not understand viruses but his job is to pick the right people who do. And also the right people who understand Fox/GOP. And craft policy within those constraints. That's why he gets paid the big bucks.
