@RidleyDM @FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal @ToshiAkima No no no, that's the whole point of the concept. It's room ventilation, but it moves around with the people, which is where and when it is needed.

@RidleyDM@FinchTH@Rose\u Marie\u Holt@jvmlost@coolpix\u jpg@cre8iverenewal@ToshiAkima

@RidleyDM @FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal @ToshiAkima You're right about ventilation of rooms but it has some practical disadvantages in that you have to engineer for max capacity in every room, even when that may rarely be needed. For example, cafeteria is obvious. Small office, don't need much alone, but when 4 people come in...

@RidleyDM@FinchTH@Rose_Marie_Holt@jvmlost@coolpix_jpg@cre8iverenewal@ToshiAkima 。。

@RidleyDM @FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal @ToshiAkima I mean, imagine if cell phones (or a case?) had a little filtration module. People already bring phones everywhere they go.

@RidleyDM@FinchTH@Rose\u Marie\u Holt@jvmlost@coolpix\u jpg@cre8iverenewal@ToshiAkima

@RidleyDM @FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal @ToshiAkima Right. I do think that a convenient wearable device you might barely notice is less of a trouble than, say, masks.

@RidleyDM@FinchTH@Rose\u Marie\u Holt@jvmlost@coolpix\u jpg@cre8iverenewal@ToshiAkima

@RidleyDM @FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal @ToshiAkima As I said, it's more of a cyberpunk concept. It doesn't really work as an individual measure. But workplaces, schools, etc. could in principle do it, and it could be more effective or even more practical that trying to filter everywhere all the time.

@RidleyDM@FinchTH@Rose\u Marie\u Holt@jvmlost@coolpix\u jpg@cre8iverenewal@ToshiAkima

@FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @RidleyDM @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal @ToshiAkima As a conceptual but not so practical illustration, imagine everyone just carried a Levoit 200 (CADR=120 CFM) around with them and plugged it in when the enter the room (the way people used to plug in phones everywhere when the batteries sucked). 10 people -> 10 HEPAs

@FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @RidleyDM @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal @ToshiAkima See next reply. PAPR is kind of design constraining. But if the idea is to have adequate filtration, if everyone carries their own, it automatically happens in every room.

@FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @RidleyDM @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal It wouldn't have to be highly protective like a PAPR (though should likely provide some protection), but if everyone wore one, the filtration would just follow the people. Any room where people gather would be adequately filtered (scaled with occupancy).

@FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @RidleyDM @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal While we're on the topic, it's a bit cyberpunk-ish, but I've been mildly contemplating some sort of wearable filter device.

@FinchTH @Rose_Marie_Holt @RidleyDM @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal Yeah when I say ventilation I mean really mean ventilation and/or filtration. But high CO2 isn't great anyway.

@FinchTH@Rose\u Marie\u Holt@RidleyDM@jvmlost@coolpix\u jpg@cre8iverenewal

@Rose_Marie_Holt @RidleyDM @FinchTH @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal Sure, but that's solvable (at least can suppress by a high degree) with ventilation and/or UV.

@Rose\u Marie\u Holt@RidleyDM@FinchTH@jvmlost@coolpix\u jpg@cre8iverenewal

@snydervegas @TRyanGregory That's not shocking at all. (1) The most vulnerable elderly starting dying (at least some) in 2020. (2) Elderly vaxed at a higher rate. Most of unvaxed are younger, but still many old/vulnerable enough to die from covid. The delta wave was particular hard on unvaxed working age.

@RidleyDM @FinchTH @jvmlost @coolpix_jpg @cre8iverenewal It's probably mostly a function of the density and ventilation. More people in a larger room doesn't help much.
